American Short Fiction is Accepting Submissions

American Short Fiction, one of the top-ranked literary magazines in the United States, is accepting unsolicited submissions.

American Short Fiction is a nationally circulated literary magazine based in Austin, Texas. Issued triannually, American Short Fiction publishes short fiction from writers based anywhere in the world and strives to publish work by the finest writers working in contemporary literature, whether they are established or new or lesser-known authors. The magazine seeks out stories “that dive into the wreck, that stretch the reader between recognition and surprise, that conjure a particular world with delicate expertise—stories that take a different way home.”

In July 2019, American Short Fiction won the Under $150,000 Budget category in the Whiting Foundation’s second annual literary magazine prizes, which are given “for superb publishing, advocating for writers, and strengthening the literary community.”
