Notre Dame’s MFA Creative Writing Program Is Offering All Students Full Scholarships plus $12,500 Fellowships

Applications are now open for the University of Notre Dame’s Master of Fine Arts Creative Writing Program. Since 2015 the program has offered a full scholarship to every student it accepts.

Each student in the program receives:

  • a full tuition scholarship
  • a US$12,500 fellowship
  • access to a 100% health insurance subsidy

In exchange all students are required to teach, participate in outreach projects and/or be involved with the on-campus literary journals – The Notre Dame Review, Re:Visions and The Bend – or with its international press, Action Books.

Lasting two years, the Notre Dame MFA Creative Writing Program describes itself as offering “an intense, stimulating immersion in the many ways an author might shape, support and inform a 21st-century writing life.” The program incorporates workshops, literature courses and the writing of a full-length manuscript.

Each application to the program must be accompanied by a writing sample of 25 – 30 pages of prose or 20 pages of poetry. Admissions are based primarily on the writing sample and letters of recommendation.
